John D. Rivers' career in management consulting spans fifteen years, including both extensive corporate experience at Big Six accounting firms and entrepreneurial ventures. His consultation career began when he joined Deloitte & Touche LLP as a tax consultant, where he developed financial and estate plans for high net worth individuals.  Rivers then joined the firm's mid-market consulting practice, Management Solutions & Services, where he concentrated on real estate financial systems implementation and business process improvements. One of his noted accomplishments in this area included owner/developer, Solow Management Company based in New York, NY.  As Senior Consultant Rivers' responsibilities included managing multiple projects and their budgets.

In 2000, Rivers left Deloitte & Touche LLP to join a start-up company, Cvent.com, based in Washington DC.  As senior consultant, Rivers' responsibilities included marketing and sales, as well as overseeing client relations in the Tri-State area.

Rivers returned to New York to work with Grant Thornton, LLP, a leading financial and business advisor to mid-corporate businesses and their owners. As supervising consultant in the Entrepreneurial Consulting Services, Rivers specialized in public accounting and system implementation working with an international pension fund. He also established policies and procedures, as well as trained the company's employees.

Before founding JDR Consulting LLC, Rivers co-founded with STAR Consulting Services as director of development. He headed up marketing, sales and public relations strategies and helped manage technology interests for clients based in New York City, Washington DC and St. Thomas (U.S. Virgin Islands). In addition, Rivers brought together public officials, educators and private industry leaders to help solve technological problems in schools in the Virgin Islands.

Rivers is proficient in a variety of operating systems, including Yardi Sytems and Microsoft Great Plains. He is a member of Member of the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, the New York Chapter of the Ohio University Alumni Association and SHRM.

He is a graduate of Ohio University with a Bachelor of Arts in Finance and earned his M.B.A. in Professional Accounting and Taxation at Fordham University.  While in graduate school, Rivers was a recruiting Assistant at Deloitte Consulting, where he managed initial screening, recruiting schedules and special events for a successful recruiting season that end up with over 100 new hires.
